“Dear Minister,
At eight weeks old, Baby Oakley was diagnosed with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, permanently impacting her general movement, ability to swallow and breathe.
SMA is the deadliest genetic disorder for children, and the most common, genetic, cause of death in children under the age of two.
Minister, we must take action now to include SMA screening in the newborn heel-prick test in Queensland.
This will save lives.
Minister please join with me as I Move for Oakley.”
